Commission - Urban Loft Dresser - Not For Sale
Our customer had this wonderful old dresser that she wanted updated for her new home.
While the wood veneer looked lovely from afar, it had scratches and dents and was too dark for their new space.
Updated in Urban Loft, a mid-shade grey, the details were brought out with white wax and the handles were updated with the metallic alchemy range.
Technique:
Painted all over in Urban Loft velvet luxe using our smooth roller and cutting in with the angled brush. We applied three coats as rolling gives a thinner finish.
We then applied one top coat of Matte lacquer onto the top of the dresser for extra durability. This was applied with the flat brush.
To bring out the carved details we applied a white wax using Crisp White chalk paint and Clear wax in a 1:1 ratio. This was brushed on with our natural bristle brush and pulled back with a clean rag. This was only applied for decorative reasons as the Velvet Luxe is an all-in-one paint with sealer built into it.
For the handles we applied two coats of full strength Clouded Pewter metallic. We then applied a half strength coat of After Midnight to deepen and then added a touch of Metro Silver glide. This was applied with the angled brush straight over the original metal handles.
